Gold Coast DBT Therapists

The Gold Coast DBT Clinic offers a range of therapeutic approaches that includes: Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT-TI); Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT); Mindfulness; EMDR; Somatic Trauma Therapy (STT); Trauma Informed DBT (DBT-TI); Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT). Our therapists come from a range of professional disciplines and specialise in a range of therapeutic approaches.

Chris is a Registered Psychologist and Credentialed DBT Practitioner who provides individual therapy facilitates stabilisation groups for individuals with trauma histories. Prior to becoming a psychologist, he worked as a Constable and Intelligence Officer in the Queensland Police Service on the Gold Coast. After seeing first-hand, the impact service can have on individuals, including himself, he pursued a career in psychology. 

His professional interests include treatment of PTSD and complex trauma, anxiety and depression. Chris is a strong advocate of using exercise and mindfulness to assist with managing mental health issues. Chris embodies the research that links cardiovascular and strength training, with improving mental health issues, by working out at the gym and being an advocate for utilising exercise and mindfulness to improve mental well-being. Chris is passionate about being a spokesperson on the changing culture of mental health and reducing the stigma that surrounds it.

Chris has worked with Headspace for the youth early psychosis program (hyepp) as a clinician in the mobile assessment and treatment team. He has also worked at headspace and Mates4Mates which is a charity supporting current and ex-serving members of the Australia Defence Force. Veteran issues are closely aligned with those experienced by first responders.

Chris is trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness based interventions. He provides psychotherapy from an evidence based framework, and continues to engage in professional development to support his clinical practice.

Chris has completed a Master in Psychology and a Master in Criminology.

Mudit is a Registered Psychologist and member of the Australian Psychological Society. Mudit completed his postgraduate studies at Bond University and graduated from the Master of Psychology (Clinical). Mudit has gained extensive practical experience in a variety of settings, including clinical, hospital, school, and occupational rehabilitation. This has provided him with the knowledge and skills to work with individuals ranging from children and adolescents to younger and older adults. Mudit is particularly interested in working with adults across a range of mental health difficulties, such as anxiety-related disorders and depressive disorders. His experience working within various hospital settings has provided him valuable skills in assessing and treating a range of pervasive mood disorders in a neurological population. He also enjoys working in a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team environment to support individuals’ mental health and wellbeing.

Mudit is also interested in assisting individuals cope after an injury or illness, improve motivation and engagement, and reduce disturbances related to pain or sleep. Mudit has extensive knowledge and experience working with children and adolescents, whether it is through individual therapy or group therapy to target behavioural, emotional or social difficulties. He enjoys getting to know his clients and support their growth and development. 

Mudit is passionate about supporting and collaborating with his clients across the lifespan to achieve their mental health and wellbeing goals. Mudit takes a warm and compassionate approach to ensure his clients feel comfortable and welcome, and he provides a caring and non-judgmental therapeutic environment where his client’s feel safe, relaxed and supported. Mudit utilises a range of evidence-based treatment methods to achieve his client’s goals and focuses on the biopsychosocial factors contributing to an individual’s presenting concerns.

MD/Psychotherapist with clinical experience in Colombia and Australia. Claudia is a medical doctor, psychotherapist and DBT therapist with a Master’s in Public Health. Claudia also speaks Spanish.

Carlie is a Mental Health OT and Credentialed DBT Practitioner who facilitates DBT programs, provides clinical supervision and individual therapy.

Carlie’s professional interests includes providing effective therapeutic interventions to individuals, families and couples of all age groups including children, adolescents and adults presenting with with a range of mental health issues including anxiety disorders, depression, drugs and alcohol, grief and loss and Borderline Personality Disorder.

Carlie has extensive  mental health experience including: with the UK National a Health Service, Queensland Health; headspace as well as Clinical Research Coordinator and Team Leader with headspace.

Carlie is trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Somatic Trauma Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness based interventions. Carlie provides psychotherapy from an evidence based framework, and continues to engage in professional development to support his clinical practice.

Carlie has completed a Master in Health Science and is endorsed as a mental health occupational therapist. To be eligible for rebates from Medicare a Mental Health Care Plan is required before seeing Carlie at Gold Coast DBT Clinic.

Tim is a Clinical Psychologist and Credentialed DBT Practitioner who facilitates DBT programs, provides clinical supervision and individual therapy.

Tim’s professional interests includes providing effective therapeutic interventions to individuals, families and couples of all age groups including children, adolescents and adults presenting with Post Traumatic Stress, Panic Disorder, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Depression, Adjustment Disorder and Behavioral Problems. He has a particular interest in working with adolescents experiencing early psychosis, depression and anxiety.

Tim has extensive  mental health experience including: Griffith Youth Forensic Service and Oncology and Hematology, Queensland Health; headspace as well as six years experiences case managing young offenders with problem behaviours.

Tim is trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness based interventions. Tim provides psychotherapy from an evidence based framework, and continues to engage in professional development to support his clinical practice.

Tim has completed a Master in Psychology (Clinical). His thesis, a study of body image and disordered eating in adult males. Tim continues his work in this area by providing private practice services to men presenting with body image concerns and disordered eating behaviours. Jacklyn is a Mental Health Social Worker and Credentialed DBT Practitioner who facilitates DBT programs, provides clinical supervision and individual therapy. 

Jacklyn’s professional interests includes providing effective therapeutic interventions to individuals, families and couples of all age groups including children, adolescents and adults presenting with with a range of mental health issues including anxiety disorders, depression, drugs and alcohol, grief and loss and Borderline Personality Disorder.

Jacklyn has extensive  mental health experience including: National Clinical Lead at Neami National, Queensland Health; Senior Management at various health services and Team Leader with headspace.

Jacklyn is trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Somatic Trauma Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness based interventions. Jacklyn provides psychotherapy from an evidence based framework, and continues to engage in professional development to support his clinical practice.

Noa is a Registered Psychologist (Clinical Psychology Registrar)

DipHealthSc., BPsychSc., GradDip(Psych)., MPsych(Clin)

With a holistic approach, Noa works with a diverse range of mental health issues, including personality disorders, depression, anxiety, panic disorder, trauma, chronic pain, ptsd, psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder, gender issues, and relationship issues as well as working with a range of neurodevelopmental and neurological issues.

Additionally, Noa completed research in neuropsychology, examining the effect of transcranial magnetic stimulation on working memory. And is trained in EEG for research purposes.

Noa works with children, adolescents, adults, and families across a range of mental and physical health issues and emotional and behavioural concerns, and is passionate about working with adolescents, young adults, and adults to assist them as they transition through their new phase of life.

Dr. King is the developer of DBT-TI and the owner of the Gold Coast DBT Clinic. He provides individual therapy as part of our research programs and supervision to mental health professionals in DBT and trauma informed care.

Peter’s professional interests includes providing effective therapeutic interventions to individuals aged 14-50 years including adolescents and adults presenting with Post Traumatic Stress, Borderline Personality Disorder, Extreme Emotion Dysregulation and Behavioral Problems. He is currently leading research in Telehealth solutions for individuals with extreme emotions and trauma memories.

 

Peter has extensive  mental health experience including: psychotherapy, public mental health, crisis assessment and treatment teams, psychiatric triage and is a former CEO of an Indigenous Homelessness Service.

 

Peter is trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Somatic Trauma Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness based interventions. Peter provides psychotherapy from an evidence based framework, and continues to engage in professional development to support his clinical practice.

 

Peter has completed a PhD which he completed in Social Work at RMIT University in Melbourne. His thesis, effective interventions for individuals with a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder has set the foundations for the development of DBT-TI and Stabilisation Based Therapy. 

 

Peter’s current clinical case load focuses on researching the effectiveness of DBT-TI and Stabilisation Based Therapy and therefore outside the eligibility for Medicare rebates.
